  2. Scroll down to the Privacy Settings section

Privacy Level

There are 4 privacy levels you can choose from:

Public

A public publication has no access restrictions and is discoverable by search engine crawlers and bots.

Unlisted

An unlisted publication blocks search engine crawlers and bots from accessing your newsletter, but allows anyone with the link to read it.

Protected

A protected publication blocks web crawlers and robots but allows anyone with the link to access it. It automatically blurs all the faces in every newsletter, and can be only unlocked by the authentication method you choose (explained below).

Private

A private publication requires login by readers using the authentication method you choose (explained below).

Authentication Methods

For Protected and Private publications you can choose one of two authentication methods:

Email Subscriber Magic Link: Anyone added as an email subscriber can enter their email address and they will be sent a link. Clicking the link verifies they are the correct person and instantly logs them in. They are not required to create an account or a password. If you send the newsletter through your own channels and don't use the email subscription engine in iNewsletter you can still add them as a subscriber and choose not to publish the newsletter by email.

Simple Password: You can set a single password that readers need to enter. You will need to communicate this password to your readers separately. iNewsletter does not have a system for sending out the password.

Create an archive of issues

Each publication has an archive of past newsletter issues enabled by default. When you publish each newsletter, you are given a URL for this archive. Readers can also click the View Archive button in the top menu when reading your newsletters to see the archive.

If you don't want to have an archive of past newsletters, you can disable archiving. This means readers won't be able to browse past newsletters, unless they have a link to that specific newsletter. The option Create an archive of issues for this publication decides whether iNewsletter will create an archive or not.

Allow public email subscriptions

iNewsletter enables you to grow your audience by allowing public subscriptions. What this means is that anyone who comes across your newsletter can add themselves to the subscription list (via the Subscribe button on the cover page) so they will receive the email summary next time the newsletter is published. You may want to change this behaviour, so by ticking or unticking the Enable public email subscriptions checkbox, you are enabling/disabling this feature.

Receive daily digest of new subscribers

You can choose to receive a daily email listing any new email subscribers. An email won't be sent if there are no new subscribers that day, and will only be sent to the email address of the logged in user. Other users can enable this option for their own account if they wish.
